A funicular, also known as a funicular railway, incline, inclined railway, inclined plane, or cliff railway, is a cable railway in which a cable attached to a pair of tram-like vehicles on rails moves them up and down a steep slope; the ascending and descending vehicles counterbalance each other. – Wikipedia
They have a funicular running up the mountain that will form part of the 10K and 21K race of the Xterra Trail Run at Tagaytay Highlands. Normal people take the funicular to go up that mountain for FUN.
But as you and I (and most of our friends) are a shade off normal we have a slightly different definition of fun. We see that mountain and get excited about running up, down and around it.
I think, the race director, Neville, will be mapping out the race route today. He mentioned that it won’t be a straight up assault. He said something about following the contour of the mountain.
How hard will the trail route be? I usually base it on their shoe recommendation. He said that trail shoes is still preferred but running shoes can still take you up and over. Not so difficult. But it won’t be easy either. He said that the 10K event is a perfect first trail race for beginners.
For me, the thrill is always in being able to run at places I would have never considered running before.
It would be fun to run around Tagaytay Highlands. Pang Rave Run talaga. Plus racing around Metro Manila is kinda getting boring. Same route just a different sponsor. This is a welcome change. Oh, but reg fee will of course not be cheap so better start saving if you are targeting this race.
