Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. In daily language the term “humidity” is normally taken to meanrelative humidity. Relative humidity is defined as the ratio of the partial pressure of water vapor in a parcel of air to the saturated vapor pressure of water vapor at a prescribed temperature. Humidity may also be expressed as absolute humidity and specific humidity. Relative humidity is an important metric used in forecasting weather. Humidity indicates the likelihood of precipitation, dew, or fog. High humidity makes people feel hotter outside in the summer because it reduces the effectiveness of sweating to cool the body by preventing the evaporation of perspiration from the skin. This effect is calculated in a heat index table.
Humidity will be in the 90s. It will make running harder in Singapore? Huh?!? How do I know if its high?
Bards, humidity is higher when your hair gets curly? Ah, oki. But how will it affect my running?
Yes, I sometimes have selective attention. Living in the Philippines, I am just used to the fact that there are days when its really so hot you just want to stay inside the house in front of the electric fan. This is why we don’t have a lot of parks but have acres and acres of air conditioned mall. When its hot, the autopilot command is go to the mall.
We landed in SG last night at 12mn. The ground was still wet from evening showers. When we stepped out of the airport, I turned to Mesh and said, “Mabigat ang hangin.”
Welcome to SG … so this is how it feels to sit near the equator.
<cue in manic laughter> haha
