ADOBO RUN AFTER DARK RETURNS on 20 Oct 2012

28 Sep

20120927-225719.jpgThe costume run/party of adobo magazine is back!

Speaking of back, when you get your bib, check the back for celebrity adobo recipes.20120927-230132.jpg
adobo Magazine, the country’s premier advertising and brand communications publication presents its third edition of adobo Run After Dark, the magazine’s trademark Halloween-themed night run and flagship event of the year.

This year’s incarnation sets the stage for an estimated 5,000 runners on October 20, 2012 at the SM Mall of Asia complex with assembly time scheduled after sundown. Runners are encouraged to add to the spectacle by donning their creepiest and craziest Halloween costumes, with cash prizes at stake for best in costume, aside from the top runners of the 5K, 10K and 15K race categories.

Unlike the usual day runs, adobo Run After Dark promises a unique experience for participants as they are treated to all-night festivities after completing their feat, with live music, fireworks displays, and free flowing beer!

Run, party and light up a home as part of the proceeds from registrations will benefit the My Shelter Foundation. Their pet project, ‘Isang Litrong Liwanag’ was also launched at last year’s adobo Run After Dark and has since gained worldwide recognition and support from the United Nations for the grassroots lighting program. Visit http://www.aliteroflight.org for more information.

Organizing this year’s race is Princess Galura of Event King who is behind other popular and successful running events such as the Condura Skyway Marathon, NatGeo Run, and Alaska’s Iron Man competition, among others. Event King’s participation promises to raise the bar further on technical aspects of the run, while ensuring a fun time to be had by all.

Runners can register online at http://www.adobomagazine.com/adoborun.

In-store registration is also available at R.O.X. and Runnr, Second Wind and at the adobo magazine office at OPVI Center, 2295 Pasong Tamo Extension, Makati.

For inquiries, please email adoborun@gmail.com or call/text 0917 432 8479.

Target : 2 hours @ Rexona Run 2012

23 Jul

Not my target. I just want to finish 5K strong and happy. But if you wanna run in 2 hours or less, here are some info that you will find useful.

1. RACE ROUTES. Familiarize yourself with the route. If you are running the relay, take note of the transition area. Maybe your partner can wave a flag or pompoms so you can easily spot each other. :D

2. VOLUNTEER PACERS. Click here and visit Kulitrunner’s blog for the complete list of volunteer pacers.

3. 2 hours. Did you finish in 2:01 in your last race? Oh that elusive 2 hours! For the Rexona Run 2012, you might want to try running with a pacer or a pace group.

If you are running the individual category, this is the guy you need to pace with. Meet Rod Sollesta. One fast dude who will try and bring you across the finish line in 2hours. To check him out, you may visit his blog, RUNdomSHOTS.

7-Eleven Run 800 : big day for Elites and pilits

16 Jul

20120716-200615.jpg

Got the PR material below for general info. Pero listed below are a few reasons why Pinoy Elites and pilits (like me) would love the concept of this race:

1. Dream come true, thank you 7-Eleven!!! Top 3 Filipino male and female runners in the 21K category will be sponsored to join the Macau International Marathon on December 2012. Best race prize ever! It’s time for our top elite runners to shine in the international scene. It’s ON!

2. SHOW ME THE MONEY. Lately, races have been marketing events. Petiks lang sila. I hope that the cash prize offered by 7-Eleven will bring out the fast and the furious and make this a truly competitive road race.

20120716-202441.jpg

3. NEW ROUTE. Have you ever been to Cavitex? I haven’t. I’d like to check out this new playground.

4. Revolutionary Registration. Trust the number 1 convenience store to offer the most convenient way of registering for the race.

5. 7-Eleven Gives Back. I ran for ek, clavoom, achoo-choo, etc. but never really know what happened to it. This time they are promising a total of Php800K worth of food and medical supplies to the top 3 cities we will vote for (limited to cities with 7-eleven branches).

Event Diary

July 6 – Aug 9, 2012 : Online Reg

To register, visit http://www.run711.com/. To complete registration, runners can pay reg fees at the 7-Eleven nearest them. Take note of the 7-Connect number and pay at any 7-Eleven store within 24 hours. They are open 24/7, convenient eh! Race Kits can be claimed on the date indicated on the receipt, and from the same store where payment has been made. And there is one near most of us. We even have one in the office.

August 10, 2012 : Last Day of Payment

August 26, 2012 : Race Day

ABOUT THE RACE. After Tour 700, the Philippines’ biggest bike race event held at the SCTEX last May 13, 2012, 7-Eleven now celebrates the opening of its 800th store with RUN 800 on August 26, 2012 along the CAVITEX, more known as the Coastal Road, with assembly at the Aseana City in Parañaque.

Runners joining the 10k,15k or 21k half-marathon will enjoy this course set along the coastal road – CAVITEX, wherein some of its lanes will be closed just for this race. Those joining in the 3k and 5k categories can look forward to an organized race course along Macapagal Ave. This is made possible with 7-Eleven’s system of allowing SELF-SELECTED WAVE STARTS, enabling them to run with people with the same skill or speed (or with friends!). To make this run more exciting, the top 3 per age category will receive medals. Top 3 Filipino males and females in the 21k will be sponsored to join the Macau International Marathon on December 2012.

SUPPORT YOUR CITY. Run 800: Takbo para sa Kalusugan will award feeding and medical assistance to the top 3 cities you voted for.

FIC RUN 2012

Four Channels, Four Lifestyles, Four Races…

Choose One and Join Fox International Channels’ Fun Run On March 25, 2012

Fox International Channels (FIC) provides a bit of each TV channel’s flavor and a whole lot of fun in the FIC Fun Run on March 25, 2012 at the Bonifacio Global City. Participants can play dress up, hobnob with celebrities and support a worthy cause.

The event gives runners the opportunity to choose and participate in any of the four races organized by FIC featuring different lifestyle themes representing its four key channels. It will have four race categories that include an advocacy marathon aimed at raising funds to support the various projects of partner non-government organizations (NGOs).

Participants may register in the 500m Fox Costume Run, 3K Star Movies Blockbuster Run, 5K Star World Lifestyle and the 10K Nat Geo Run For a Cause. Those who are interested to join may register either via online or phone, at RunRio stores (BHS and Katipunan) and event partner stores. Participants may choose their singlet according to the channel and label they wish to run with.

Come dressed in your favorite character and run alongside fellow enthusiasts and sponsor mascots in the 500m Fox Costume Run. Fifty runners in costume will compete and make a dash for the finish line. Limited edition Fox DVD will be raffled off after the race.

Star Movies rolls out the red carpet for movie aficionados in the 3K Star Movies Lifestyle Run where writers, film producers and movie directors are expected to show their support to the event. For a bit of a movie trivia and a tad of inspiration, popular quotes from movie characters will be setup along the course. A home entertainment system is up for grabs in the raffle draw.

Run with panache – this is the battle cry of lovers of fashion and fitness when they run the 5K Star World Lifestyle Run featuring a red carpet along the route to mimic the paparazzi scene. Brush elbows with models, celebrities and other prominent personalities expected to show up in their running shoes. If you’re feeling lucky, you might just bring home gift certificates for a shopping spree at the end of the race.

Have fun while reaching out to others in the 10K National Geographic Run for a Cause. The race is in partnership with 10 select non-government organizations and seeks to raise awareness for their respective advocacies. Among the partner NGOs are Physicians for Peace, ICANSERVE Foundation, Virlanie, Greenpeace, Philippine Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, World Vision and Gawad Kalinga. The first 500 registrants will compete in the name of their advocacy.
