Vilmanian ang mommy ko

28 Dec

20121228-144021.jpg
Tally as of today is 5 out of 8 for me and mom for the 2012 MMFF. One more, The Strangers na lang, and we will be done for the year. The other 2?

Did I enjoy this year’s MMFF? Oo naman! It was fun and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised this year.

Mababaw? Baduy? Corny?

Weh, ano naman ngayon, it’s Christmas I’m not exactly looking for films that will blow my mind, reveal unexplored realms of possibilities, bask in culturally significant pieces etchetera etchetera. Gusto ko lang tumawa (sa nakakatawang joke or kakatwang mga artista natin), magulat ng konti at just have fun. Palagay ko yan lang ang expectation ng mga tulad ko who watch the MMFF every year. Bonus na ang quality films. Kung meron, eh di okay, suportahan natin yan. Eh ang Thy Womb? Si Vilma ba dun, si Nora di ba? Gusto mo simangutan ako ng mommy ko?!?

So which ones did I like this year?

Movie 1, Dec25 12:40, Greenbelt 1: One More Try
Malinis ang script, buo yung story of each character so clear yung intent when they deliver their lines. Alam mo kung saan nanggagaling when they react in each scene.

And I’m not even a fan ha. Dingdong was also okay, but I was wondering if Derek would have been great for the part, too. Or baka I’m used to seeing him na pinag-aagawan. Zanjoe was a revelation, puydi! Magaling din si Angelica but mas amazed kami clothes and bags nya haha. Love the Black dress with aquamarine and yellowgreen detail (chartreuse ba yun?)

Deserve ang best picture.

Movie 2, Dec25 3:45, Greenbelt 3: Sosy Problems
Movie number one was mommy’s pick, so I get to choose the next one. And yes, Enteng dapat, oo fan ako ni Enteng Kabisote. Pero, ewan ko ba naman with Greenbelt 3, they scheduled Enteng in the smaller cinema so naubusan na kami ng tix and we ended up buying tix for Sosy Problems. Test of Friendship, CHECK!

Unapologetic na kababawan ito. Pa-cute and funny sys. It is like seeing the other side of the metro that I don’t know, so parang nakikiusyoso sa buhay mayaman. The supporting characters were really great. Caricature characters, oo, pero cute and pretty funny. Heart Evangelista was surprisingly magaling, bagay na bagay sa role. Mylene Dizon was Mylene Dizon, magaling. She and Heart had the best lines.

Costumes, fab!

Medyo off lang the voice over sa intro and ending, di na kelangan. But overall, I liked this better than the other 2 comedies I watched. And this year, I must say, sulit ang bayad ng movie producers sa stylists nila.

Movie 3, Dec26 11:40, Greenbelt 3: Sisterakas
Natauhan na ang Greenbelt, they moved na this one and Enteng to the bigger cinemas. Vice Ganda, Ai-ai and Krissy, funny naman. Predictable but then again we do watch them because we like their kind of comedy eh. Although, Vice Ganda’s kelangan ba _______, di ba pwedeng __________ muna jokes got a bit tiring towards the end (kaya i liked Sosy a lil better.

Pero ohmeohmy! Best in costume si Vice Ganda, his white dress was simply fab. Kabog all the dresses ni Angelica and all the sosy girls!

I also liked the scene where they did a parody ng mga horror movies ni Krissy, patawa lang.

Off. Pero syempre Enteng sya, so overall fun pa rin sya. Pangbata, yes! Fantasy, yes! Mababaw, naman naghahanap ka ng lalim? Slapstick, syempre! The kids in the cinema were laughing out loud, madilim so di ako sure kung rolling on the floor while laughing sila. I enjoyed it, pero lol lang naman. Si mommy, nakatulog haha.

Movie 5, Dec27 4:00, Powerplant: Shake, Rattle and Roll XIV
Naka 14 na sila? The best pa rin yung SRR 1 with Manananggal and Refrigerator but this year is better than the one with the monster Christmas tree.

Nagulat at natakot ba ako? Ay, grabe, oo. Not a big fan of horror films kaya SRR pa lang terrified and solve na ako. Takot to the point na I watched this movie with one hand over my eyes at nakasiksik kay mommy.

Yung first one kasi time nya was the day before ng assassination ni Ninoy, yung second was about soldiers who turned aswang/zombies and claims to be the bagong hukbo ng bayan tapos yung last one alien invasion story naman na nagtira lang dalawa ala adam and eve na buntis sa twins na according to the aliens will be the new Cain and Abel. Christian ang aliens?

So, paano yung The Strangers? Parang scary. I just saw the trailer as in now mukhang interesting. Maybe next week na lang, if magsurvive sya. Eh yung Thy Womb?

Recommendation ko, if you can only bear to watch one, watch One More Try, it’s sulit. If you want to watch another one…try Sisterakas if fan ka ni Vice, Krissy or Ai-ai, Enteng if you are watching with kids or fan ka ni bosing, Sosy Problems if you want a fresh kind of humor or if you are a foreigner spending holidays in Manila dying to watch a movie (60-70% of the dialogue is english or taglish).

Sit back, relax and enjoy the movies.

a tour, a race, some surprises and big prizes

Last year, they offered us flag football and this year runners who will join the 5K category will run in a special route with “Fun Tasks”. They did not tell us last night at the launch what “Fun Tasks” will be given to runners. I just hope that whoever prepared these tasks do not think that solving quadratic equation is fun. Or worse, we could do such fun things like finding when train x will meet train y given their speed is z. I think I would prefer being tasked to lick my elbow than to do math. :)

But I’m still excited to join the 5K for the extra fun. And yes, doing the task is the perfect excuse to catch my breath and have a bit of rest in between runs.

This race is dubbed, “Ready, Set, Explore!” Are you ready?

Take note ha, BGC, no more na TheFort. They are rebranding na.

Oh and this year’s raffle prize is an Asian Cruise for 2. I was so sure I’d win last year’s raffle…maybe this time, I will win it. I am telling the universe now, can I please win in the raffle. Only BGC runners who finish the race and are present during the raffle draw will qualify for the raffle. So stay, enjoy and wait to hear your name when they raffle off the prizes. Or wait … no go home na after the race agad pala hehehe better chance for me to win.

Registration open until November 18 at Riovana Katipunan and Global City or Toby’s MOA and Trinoma.

Register na and let’s all have a good time!

But wait there’s more …. this fun run is actually just part of a bigger event. On 23-25 November 2012, BGC will be having the PassionFest 2012. Please visit on BGC on these dates for loads of fun and suprises.

Nostalgia : My first running toys

22 Jul

Rained all day. Not training for a long distance race so I didn’t need to run. I’ve done my share of long run in the rain. Fun! However, the lure of the bed was stronger today.

While watching The Mentalist
Marathon, I finally started decluttering. It’s a start but I have a long way to go still.

Eniweis…look what I found! My first running toys :) I still remember how frustrating it was to get this footpod to work but we had a lot of good runs. The nano served me well.

They no longer work. Can’t use them. Decluttering is not easy!

Nike RUNUAAP challenge : One Big Fight!

16 Jul

20120716-193609.jpg

The UAAP has launched and the pressure is on the athletes of Ateneo, La Salle, and FEU to bring home the championship.

How bad do these schools, both the players & fans, want to win?

They can prove it on and off the court with the Nike RUNUAAP challenge.

Both athletes and student runners must run and clock in their miles with the Nike+ GPS App http://gonike.me/nrapp. Total distances will be tracked during the UAAP season and at the end, we see which school syncs in the most miles.

Download the Nike+ Running App for FREE on iPhone or Android. Dedicate your KMs and prove your passion. Tag your runs with #gameonworld #PH #team name (ADMU, DLSU, FEU). School with the most KMs gets bragging rights.

As UAAP kicks off another season, lace up, get out there and run for your team. Download the Nike+ Running App for FREE on…http://fb.me/C7vgGCtl or you may visit Nike Philippines’ official Twitter page https://twitter.com/NikePH and help spread the word by re-tweeting Nike’s tweet.

Bike Bike Day

23 Jun

Bee, Banjo and I biked today and donated 1 mango seedling each. 20120623-184707.jpg

Bike day continued when we tagged along Biloggirl to the first ever folding bike festival held at The Collective.20120623-184744.jpg

The bikes were fabulous! Makes me wish that I can balance well…and not pose grave danger to society when I get on one. haha

Fun fun day capped with uber delish Calda pizza and a spot of shopping at Yadu.
